Winfried is currently the Director of Research & Development.
After graduating with a mechanical engineering degree from the Berufsakademie Mosbach in 1992, Winfried started his engineering career in the field of agricultural equipment designing chicken cages. In 2004 he began working in the medical device industry for Otto Bock Mobility Solutions. As a seating engineer he was focused on the development of seating devices such as wheelchair cushions and head supports to help wheelchair users to improve their posture and mobility. During the last 14 years he has continued to improve his understanding of the needs of disabled people, which has led to several leadership positions in R&D. In 2015 he took over full responsibility for the worldwide development activities as Director R&D for all segments of the business unit Otto Bock Mobility Solutions. Latest releases include the Juvo power wheelchairs, the Avantgarde 4 manual wheelchairs, Terra Flair cushion and a complete line of user friendly head supports.
