Self balancing wheel for wheelchairs with automatic hub gear box
The team proposes replacement rear wheels with a balancing mechanism controlled by a user-interface. These wheels are quiet, light, inexpensive and can overcome barriers without muscle power. They use a small, rechargeable battery and are compatible with most wheelchair models, so they can be easily exchanged for regular wheels as needed. This will be used to improve the accessibility of wheelchair users on any type of terrain.
