After a successful career as a banker & real estate investor I was involved in an auto accident resulting in paraplegia. At 39 I returned to school and completed my MBA & PhD in '96 when I was 46 years old. Since then I have been a Management professor teaching Entrepreneurship & eBusiness. I have been at the University of Louisiana Lafayette for the past 18 years. I am a certified "car nut" and truly believe technology & innovation can dramatically enhance the lives of those in wheelchairs.
I would welcome the opportunity to submit a proposal to your organization for my ideas on wheelchairs and how automobiles can be adapted to the needs of sports wheelchairs. So many paraplegics are independent, drive their own cars without assistance. This to me is the core need for wheelchair users. My ideas for simple modifications to virtually any model car, SUV, or truck would allow myself and others to functionally use all of these models.
